Thank you, Athena. Today is MLK day in the U.S. Also, today is the inauguration of President Obama. fitting, don’t you think? Yes, MLK was and is a gift to the world. I was a little girl when he was working so hard for civil rights and I grew up in the south in a racist home, but I always loved him and as an adult, I so value his principles. Thank you, dear friend, for your lovely comment.

What a most fitting quote for the U.S.A. in particular as we are having lively discussions and beyond about violence and guns. This is one quote I had not yet come across. It is a perfect one to empower the human race.

This plant is called a “Christmas Cactus” and is supposed to bloom at Christmas, but this year, it decided to bloom on the weekend of the celebration of Martin Luther King’s Birthday here in the U.S. Interesting – also today is President Obama’s inauguration…
Hear, hear! I heartily agree! I have a cactus sort of like this that my aunt gave me for my college graduation in 1993, so it will be 20 years old in May! It’s a spring bloomer, though they call it a Sunrise Cactus.
That’s amazing that your cactus is 20 years old! I love the cactus blooms. We have wild cactus here in Colorado – Prickly Pears that produce this huge yellow or pink flower in the spring. They are so magnificent for such an ornery plant.
