“The world is only a mirror. You will only see in the world only what you’re prepared to see in yourself – nothing more and nothing less.”
- Robert Holden
It really is a world of perceptions. Great image! And thank you again for your thoughtfulness yesterday and your help on Amazon. Your acts of support should bring good Karma back to you.
Thank you, Carrie. I learned the technique for this photo in a class several years ago. Believe it or not, it’s unretouched! And you are very welcome. That whole thing felt like bullying to me – it had that energy about it. I love your book and my plan is to reread it in the near future. And I can’t wait to read your next novel – I was excited to see on one of your comments that you’re currently working on one.
Thanks, Jennifer. It’s a very cool technique that I learned in a photography workshop. I’ll blog about it sometime. The banner for my blog was shot in the same way.
Cathy
Thanks, V. I hadn’t thought about it before, but it is reminiscent of Starry Night. The image is not altered in any way – a very cool technique where I used a glass table top, placed the mum underneath it and then sprayed drops of water on the glass. Then, using a macro lens, I was able to capture the tiny images created by the water droplets – like little lenses themselves. My banner here is shot the same way, just with a different flower. I learned the technique in a photography workshop. I’m signed up for a weekend workshop in May to learn more about my new Nikon D600 – very excited!
Thank you, seabluelee! I was thinking about posting a “How to” at some point. This one was taken outside, so I may wait until the weather warms up and then create a post about it.
I love this picture Cathy! And I fully agree with your quote… The world truly is a mirror. Enjoy your week! XOXO
Thank you, Crystal. We’re having a great time. Snow is fantastic!
Hugs,
Cathy

I am indeed. And I intend to head there shortly.
Thank you!
I like the photo, and I like and believe in the saying and in you.

Thank you, Russ! It’s always great to see you here, my friend.

Way cool photo! Very impressive!

Cathy, I have two responses to this post:
1. Captioning the image “Mums in Space” is a home run.
2. At the risk of sounding high, the colorway brings to mind Van Gogh’s “Starry Night”.

Obviously, you’re learning quite a lot from these workshops. Thanks for sharing the results. I enjoy looking at your images very much Cathy.
[ Smiles ] I am in total agreement with that philosophy.
Thank you, Renard. I thought you might like this one…:-)

I would add . . . “and what you are willing to see.”
So true, Robin.
Cool photo! I’d love to learn how to do that. I’ve photographed lots of water drops, but have never captured one like that.

So true..though I don’t always like acknowledging it.
I know, Julie, me neither. I’ve been reading “The Vortex” this week and that’s what this quote is all about. Still, it’s nice to be reminded…
Sounds interesting…I will check it out!
This picture is really awesome! I have a similar concept but just don’t know how to do it!
Now you have did it! Great work, Cathy!
Thank you, Sydney! I think I’ll post a “How to” sometime soon. Do you have a macro lens?
I’m using Canon EOS 600 with macro function, is it good enough?
Yes, I would suspect so, Sydney. I’ll put up a post soon to show you how to do it!
Cathy, you are helpful and sweet!
If the world is a mirror, I hope it reflects people like my friend, Kayln. I think you will like this post:http://sheslosingit.net/2013/02/12/chiari-warrior/
