They really are. We came across this beautiful animal on a night dive and he literally flowed across the sand on the bottom at a depth of about 25 feet. Then he stopped and posed for me. What a gift!
Thank you, seabluelee! Haiku is a fun past time and it’s fun to share with others here. I’m planning on doing it every Sunday for a while. I’d love to have you stop by and check it out.
Cephalapod eye
Sneaks around, Octopus guy
Fishies might now die
And I rhymed it – bad Haiku! Bad HAIKU!
Rutabaga rhyme
Ignores Haiku convention
for fishy outcome
Changed it to rhyme instead of rule!
That’s what a Rutabaga does!
On Sunday morning
This octopus looks like me
Hiding in its bed
Snowstorm raging here
Warm bed is astute idea
Octopus knows best
octopus lurking
innocent fish swims
lunchtime drive-by yum
drive thru lunch window
complete with conch shell side dish
octopus fast food
Yummy fish
Fried and battered
Fries with that?
LOL!
Life under water
Pretty colors, blue,red, pink
Deceiving beauty
Subsurface perils
await colorful fishies
eight legged raptor
Slimy octopus
Waiting for his next fish meal
Chewy octopus
Okay – mine made no sense! Hi Cathy. Happy Sunday!!
Made plenty of sense
whether eating or eaten
octopus watches
Fish dance water bound
Subterranean pink eye
Prefers to observe
pink eyes and red spots
at night he turns bright turquoise
and comes out to hunt
(Check out the attached photo, Mary!)
This shot was taken a few years ago on a Night dive in the Bahamas!
Wow! It hardly looks like the same creature. Both night and day versions are stunning, though!

Lovely octopi
They like cozy hiding spots
They’re quite smart, really
True intelligence
These eight tentacled creatures
do seem to display
I would like to be
Under the sea in an Oc-
-topuses garden
It almost worked…
Now I’m humming the
tune in my head for the rest
of the livelong day…
Hi Cathy, since I love color, I love your colorful photo. Thanks for making my day brighter. Sending you much love and joy, Candy
Thank you, Candy! And thanks for stopping by my blog today!
Crusted and sparkling
A beautiful barrier
Is still a barrier
Barrier it is
Providing a safe haven
From scary diver
(Nice to see you here Glow Worm! Welcome.)
He is exactly why I don’t scuba dive.
They’re actually quite shy, Robin. It’s amazing to see them free swimming at night.
Beautiful Ocean
Filled with colorful creatures
Some hidden from view
Octupi hidden
In coral cornice abode
cameleon-like
You and your readers are cleverer than I, but I thoroughly enjoyed this post and all the comments!
