This color was everywhere in St. Thomas when we visited three years ago. Love it and makes me long for warmy humidity. We’re scheduled for a snowstorm here. Sigh. I think they’re calling it Storm Saturn. When did they begin naming every precipitation that moves across the country? Seems a little silly. Anyhoo, love the pic, Cathy!!
Hi Brigitte,
I so agree, it’s just plain weird that snowstorms now have names. This shot was taken using that technique I mentioned on your site earlier this week. It’s called HDRI or High Dynamic Range Imaging. It’s really fun and reminds me of luminist painting, in a way. And like you, I love the color. Hope this storm is not so stormy…
Hugs,
Cathy
Yes, more snow on Saturday. I think it’s just March and I come from Georgia where daffodils are already popping. It will be at least another month here. But I will drown my spring longings with a day of skiing at Winter Park on Friday. It’s not all bad…
Thanks, Robin!
Aaah…a beautiful daydream Cathy and how appropriate right now while the world outside my window is still completely buried under snow! My eyes shone seeing that fresh, warm green first thing coming here! Thank you for the gorgeous awakening of the senses with this post. To beautiful days. Sharon
Thank you, Sharon! I so agree – the color evokes memories of tropical days and warm sun and salty air for me. I hope you have a lovely day in Finland and may your longer days bring spring colors soon! Cathy
Thanks, V! This was a fun shot to do. I’m experimenting with High Dynamic Range Imaging and this was my first success. Interesting – your comment about the three-way…I know you meant something else, but how could you have realized that it took three merged exposures to get this image?
[...] The March Phoneography challenge continues. This week, we were asked to capture on our cell phones, something that “holds the promise or portent of the future.” Well, I’m very excited about my new Nikon D600 and I’m exploring a lot of new photographic techniques with this amazing instrument. I’m learning how to do High Dynamic Range (HDRI) Photography and I also have plans to learn Focus Stacking. To see a couple of my HDRI shots, click here and here. [...]
Thanks for the warmth as New England braces for more snow :-/
It’s certainly been your year for snow, Peter. Glad this brought a little virtual tropical sun your way!
This is beautiful Cathy.
I can smell the loamy air and hear the waking birds.
Red
Thank you, Red. And the birds! Yes, they’re just waking…along with the Capuchin monkeys.
Oh I like this Cathy. I want some of that warm pungent air and to bask in the sun.
Me too, Audra, me too!
Beautiful, Cathy.
Transported to paradise.
Chilly this morning.
Thanks, Crystal. Ahhh, paradise is calling!
Mmm, what a delicious image. Now I want a smoothie.
Sounds great, Jennifer. I think I’ll get out the blender!

Backlit leaves are one of my favorite things!
Me too, seabluelee! I love how the color comes through the veins. Thank you so much!
Aren’t you about to get walloped by a storm? No wonder you are daydreaming of bananas.

Nice Cathy! Those leaves are so sexy I’d have a three-way with them.

I had no idea about that Cathy! But, it doesn’t surprise me that that great shot was a bit of a production.
Warmth indeed …. a prelude to spring.
Thank you, Frank. Always great to see you’ve stopped by!
